Where To Stay On Arran?

Where To Stay On Arran?

In one sense this is, as the owners of a well-located Arran B&B, an easy one: stay with us at Cruickshanks.  But then that’s jumping the gun a little: to anyone wanting to visit the island, the main considerations will include what to do, where to eat as well as where to stay on Arran?

Focussing on the ‘where to stay on Arran’ question, it is logical to be thinking at least a little about the other two questions.  Arran is not especially large with one road that circumvents the island-around 64 miles- with two additional cross-cutting roads. A significant proportion of the islands population and therefore facilities lie in proximity to the ‘coastal road’, with the main concentration of towns and villages located on the islands eastern side between Corrie-around five miles north of the island’s main town and ferry landing Brodick-down to Whiting Bay which lies 8 miles south of Brodick.

Arran has a range of accommodation types to choose from: campsites, hostels, hotels, self-catering as well as Bed and Breakfasts; these are represented all over the island with the largest concentration between Whiting Bay and Brodick; conveniently for the visitor there is a good range of cafes, restaurants and carry out eateries similarly located between these two towns. Returning to the question of where to stay on Arran: for us, and this has much to do with the decision to set up our own BandB on Arran, is the benefit of staying with and being looked after directly by local residents who, as well as being motivated to make your stay a comfortable one, are well placed to provide help in choosing what do and when, given guest interests and the prevailing weather conditions!

There is a lot to choose from in a place where you can find a little bit of everything you’d ever want from a Scottish Island: mountains, lowlands, beaches, iconic wildlife, castles, stone circles, distilleries, golf courses and a range of activities to fill as much time as you have available. Whatever your interest, or ambition, we are pleased to assist and can provide equipment storage and drying facilities as required.

Cruickshanks is a luxury 5-Star Boutique B&B based on Arran and has been awarded the AA Scottish Guest Accommodation of the Year. We are happy to provide help and advice on whatever itinerary takes your fancy; we also have storage and drying facilities available to all of our B&B guests.
