The Garden Suite (No Pets)
This is a cosy annex to the main house with its own separate entrance and garden. Private and secluded with its own dedicated parking space it faces west and south and therefore catches the daytime and evening sun. The small garden space, sitting in a sheltered and secluded spot, has its own furniture consisting of table, parasol and chairs and is surrounded by a wide variety of potted perennial and annual plants.
Indoors, the Garden Suite consists of a sitting room with a wood burning stove, custom made leather couch, breakfast table and chairs. The adjoining bathroom features a generously proportioned bath and separate rain shower. The bedroom is on a mezzanine floor with king-size bed.
A feature we were keen to enhance is the large internal wall comprising the freshly sand blasted local building stone – a red sandstone of Permian age (c. 275my) and to compliment this we have used Farrow and Ball’s ‘String’ throughout the main sitting and bedroom area to maintain a warm and airy feel to the space. The en-suite is decorated in F&B’s cool and contrasting ‘Stone-Blue’ providing a nautical feel to an island bathroom.

Breakfast At Cruickshanks
Our aim is to offer a great start to your day with, wherever possible, locally sourced fresh produce from Arran and throughout Scotland.
Breakfast caters to a wide variety of diets and preferences; we have first-hand experience of dietary restrictions and therefore please do not hesitate to tell us precisely what you would like for the most important meal of the day. Everything is cooked fresh and to your precise preferences.
To Start
Each of our grown-up children tell us that Nanette’s muesli is the finest available to mankind; so who are we to argue? Freshly made and including toasted oats and maple syrup with pecans, almonds, coconut, sunflower, pumpkin and chia seeds; almost a breakfast in itself.
Porridge is the quintessential Scottish breakfast staple, traditionally cooked with water and served with salt. We offer something a little less stern: cooked with milk and served with cream and maple syrup. But the ‘stern’ version is available also if you insist!

Cooked Scottish breakfast comprising any combination of: Ayrshire bacon, 100% pork (i.e. cereal free) sausage, Stornoway Black Pudding, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, ‘tattie’ (potato) scone and of course free-range eggs (fried, poached, scrambled or boiled and cooked to your specification; soft, medium, firm or ‘easy over’ .

When available we are pleased to offer a bona-fide Scottish delicacy: locally smoked haddock, lightly poached in milk and served with a soft cooked poached egg. Once tried, never forgotten!
Or
Reflecting Nanette’s North American roots we also offer French Toast with maple syrup and bacon. Breakfast of champions, allegedly.
Locally sourced artisan breads and a choice of home-made marmalade, raspberry jam or Arran honey
