One of us would say that geology is the basis for most things; conspicuously true in Arran’s case with its’ distinctive divide between the mountainous north and lowland south, a direct result of spanning the Highland Boundary Fault - a geological feature which marches across Scotland separating Highland from Lowland. Given that Arran has a circumference of 56 miles, this plays directly to the description Scotland in Miniature and as the island is only 40 miles from Glasgow International Airport, what better and easier location to sample Scotland?
