FOOD
Our aim is to offer you a great start to your day with, wherever possible, locally sourced fresh produce. And although there is, as one would expect, a distinctly Scottish character to breakfast at Cruickshanks, there are some North American flourishes also.

TO START
Each of our grown-up children tell us that Nanette’s muesli is the finest available to mankind; so who are we to argue? Freshly made and including toasted oats and maple syrup with raisins, dried cherries, pecans, coconut, almonds, sunflower and pumpkin seeds; almost a breakfast in itself.
Porridge is the quintessential Scottish breakfast staple, traditionally cooked with water and served with salt. We offer something a little less stern: cooked with milk and presented with cream and maple syrup. But the ‘stern’ version is available also, if you insist!
TO FOLLOW
Cooked Scottish breakfast comprising any combination of: Ayrshire bacon, 100% pork (i.e. cereal free) sausage, Stornoway Black Pudding, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, ‘tattie’ (that’s Scots for potato) scone and of course free-range eggs (fried, poached, scrambled or boiled and cooked to your specification; soft, medium, firm or ‘easy over’ etc, etc).
or
When available we are pleased to offer a bona-fide Scottish delicacy: locally smoked haddock, lightly poached in milk and served with a soft cooked poached egg. Once tried, never forgotten!
or
Reflecting Nanette’s North American roots we also offer French Toast with maple syrup and bacon. Breakfast of champions, allegedly.
Locally sourced artisan breads and a choice of Rob’s home-made marmalades (fine and medium peel), bramble jelly, raspberry jam and honey from some of Arran's local bees.
Note: We can cater for most diets; vegetarian, vegan, gluten free. Please just let us know in advance.
DRINKS
Loose leaf Assam, Darjeeling or Earl Grey tea, Green tea or a wide variety of herbal, caffeine-free and fruit teas.
Freshly ground coffee Cruickshanks house blend
Fresh orange juice
